I'm feeling quite proud of myself at the moment. I recently came across a few offcuts of MDF and decided to make up some painting supports. I cut them to standard sizes - 16x12; 14x11 and 12x10 inches and ended up with 20 boards. I had several pieces of canvas and heavy linen that I've accumulated over the years plus a 50x50cm damaged canvas that I had been given. A couple of evenings with glue and Gesso and I now have 20 free painting supports.
